Josene sensor platform by Intemo
Jose is an innovative sensor platform for collecting data in a relatively cheap manner, with the use of easily accessible parts. In order to present the data in an accessible way, the measurements meet the open standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium, a non-profit organisation which advocates open standards in the geospatial community. Every five seconds, Jose sends 63 variables from different measurements, including GPS, various gasses, sound intensity over 31 audio bands, humidity, and temperature. Jose is suitable for outdoor use and has even been provided with heating elements to make sure the sensors do not freeze.
After extensive tests, 25 sensors have been placed in Nijmegen in cooperation with other parties(Nijmegen, Geonovum and Radboud University), for the Smart Emission Project. In this project, we are investigating how the open sensor data can measure the variations in air quality and how this data can best be processed and visualised. With the help of these results, we are going to look for more applications for our sensors.
